Fuente Dé

Fuente De Cable CarFuente Dé is located in the south eastern part of The Peaks of Europe National Park. There is a well-known Parador of the same name here. It is also the base camp to start climbs and treks on the southern side of the impressive limestone massifs of the Picos de Europa.

Cable car

There is a cable car which takes passengers in less than four minutes right up to 1,850m above sea level whizzing up a drop of 750m. The views are breathtaking.
Without doubt this is a good option for those who wish to enjoy the park in an effortless way. However it is also a great option for climbers and trekkers who want to start as close to the top as possible.

If you want to use the cable car it is advisable to get there early (9am) because the weather can change from one minute to the next, if the mist comes down it will impossible to enjoy the spectacular scenery.Fuente de Cable car

Where the cable car stops at the highest point there is a vantage point called Áliva where there is a large café that serves meals and drinks, as well as small shop and a balcony where you can admire the views.
The Refugio Áliva Hotel is just a few kilometres from the vantage point.

How to get there

From Potes take the CA-185 road to Fuente Dé. The distance from Potes is about 24kms and is quite well signposted.
