of land plants. Cortegada Island has the largest laurel wood in the whole of Europe.
Tortoises, seals, dolphins and sometimes whales are among park visitors.

The Sálvora archipelago has the largest number of islets in the park even though it is the smallest in size. Three of these, Vionta, Herboso and Noro are being studied and researched for their environmental importance.

All kind of information on the National Park, such as biological diversity and the different walks and treks you can take, can be found at the information centre in the “Monasterio de Santo Estevo” on Ciés and also there is also an information point on the island of Ons.

You can get to the Cíes islands by sea from Vigo, Baiona and Cangas. In order to preserve the park’s nature and wildlife, only 2.200 visitors are allowed a day, which doesn´t represent a much problem except in the month of August; the high season, when crowds of people are everywhere.

Departing from Rodas pier in the Cíes islands there are a number of interesting walks that lead to three lighthouses and two observatories aswell as passing by an ancient preroman settlement
