Pontevedra Estuary

Sanxenxo
Sanxenxo is situated between the estuaries of Arousa and Pontevedra. It has the largest influx of tourists of the whole of the Galician coast. There are many hotels and it has one of the largest marinas in the north of Spain.
Portonovo
Portonovo is a fishing village .It is smaller and more peaceful than Sanenxo there are beautiful beaches and a good variety of hotels and also a marina. During the summer it is popular place with many tourists.
Bueu
This is an ideal place if you like rambling, as there are many different paths and protected open spaces where you can contemplate nature.
Cabo Udra is about 5kms from Beau you get a great view of Pontevedra estuary and Ons island from there .
Combarro
This is one of the most scenic places on the Galician coast it has been declared of particular artistic and picturesque interest. One of the main characteristics are the 30 “horreos”, (these are raised granaries resting on a series of stone pillars), which are on the seashore they are used to store corn grain and to dry fresh anchovies, sardines and other fish.
The houses and “horreos” are small and built close together on the granite
rocks so as to take the maximum advantage of the fertile land for agricultural purposes.
The impressive Baroque Poio Monastery is about 3kms from Combarro. Inside the monastery there is a marvellous mosaic made of thousands of tiny stones representing different aspects of St. James´s way.
